Cub Scout Day Camp Date and Time Change

The Cub Scout Day Camp, which has recently been held in the third week of July each year has been changed to June 18th through the 22th. The Joint Forces Training Base's (JFTB) Training & Facilities Director has informed the Day Camp Director, Chris Mattison, that military exercises will be underway in a magnitude not seen before in July and August.  These military exercises will preclude the Cub Scout Day from using the JFTB anytime during July and August.
Therefore the Day Camp Director has selected the only week available, June 18th through 22th. The last week in June is not available, because another District has already been given a commitment for all the Day Camp resources.
The only date available has another problem in that not all school districts have recessed for the summer.  So the Day Camp Director has chosen to conduct a "Twilight" Cub Scout Day Camp.  Starting time will be at 3 PM and the ending time will be 8 PM.

The positive aspects of this change are:
1. We will still conduct a Cub Scout Day Camp in the Orange Frontier District this year - the other alternative is unacceptable!.
2. It is anticipated the weather will be noticeably cooler in June during mid-afternoon/early evening hours.
3. We expect more parents will be able to participate in the Day Camp experience.
4. The Base resources (static & action military displays) will be available to our Day Campers

Please pass the word to every Scouter you come in contact with.  We really have our job cut out for us and your help can put us over the top.
